Australian by Nature Evening Primrose Oil is a valuable source of Omega–6 essential fatty acid (gramma–linolenic acid). Receiving a regular intake of Omega–6 is vital for human health and wellbeing.
Omega–6 can be sourced from a variety of different foods, such as eggs, avocados, nuts and many vegetable oils. Evening primrose oil, however, has the highest amount of Omega–6 of any food substance. Evening primrose oil is extracted from the seeds of the evening primrose plant (oenothera biennis). It is a valuable source of Omega–6 essential fatty acid (gramma–linolenic acid – GLA). The seeds of the evening primrose plant yield between 7% and 10% GLA.
The body does not produce essential fatty acids, so it is necessary to obtain them through our diet, or through dietary supplements. Omega–6 is highly beneficial for cellular growth, supporting the maintenance of healthy skin and hair. It also assists in the relief of minor skin complaints, eczema and pre–menstrual symptoms.
